I’m a huge advocate of using blogs to preserve family history.  Why?

  1. Blogs are easy to install
  2. Google loves Wordpress and tends to index it fast–so other researchers can find you
  3. Using a blog it’s easy to make changes and additions
  4. A blog is a fantastic place to “stash” online research
  5. Blogs allow multiple users – so other family researchers can post to the blog
  6. Blogs are free (Blogger and Wordpress.com)
  7. You have total control over your blog
  8. Your blog will last forever – or as long as you pay your hosting bill or Blogger keeps it up!
  9. Since other researchers will find you, you’ll increase information coming to you!
  10. They’re very, very, very easy to use.

How to Get a Family History Blog

  1. Hire me; I’ve installed close to 200 Wordpress blogs (see my sample family history blog ).  I will host your site for free for one year; then $60 per year after that, and I will install your Wordpress blog and plugins (they make your blog more functional) for $450.  I will have you up and running within 48 hours.
  2. Go to Blogger.com and get a free blog
  3. Go to Wordpress.com and get a free blog (this is different from what I install)

Want a family history blog?  Click the contact button and let’s get started.  I’ll send you a list of what I’ll need from you to get your domain name,  set up your hosting account, and get your blogging quickly!  I’ll also give you a Quick Start Manual that answers all the important questions about how to do things.  I’ll also be available for questions via e-mail in case you get stuck.
